Boise School District is pleased to announce that Chris Coutts has been named Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Timberline High School.
Coach Coutts brings championship-level experience, strong Idaho roots, and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Most recently, he served on the coaching staff at The College of Idaho, where he contributed to one of the most successful runs in program history, helping lead the Yotes to two NAIA National Championships and multiple conference titles while supporting the development of All-Americans and All-Conference student-athletes.
During his time at The College of Idaho, the program compiled an impressive 125–17 overall record, set multiple team scoring records, and achieved a historic 36-game winning streak during the 2022–23 national championship season—the most wins by any college basketball team in Idaho history.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Coach Coutts works with student-athletes across the Treasure Valley through youth camps and 16U Select Basketball, helping players strengthen skills, confidence, and leadership on and off the court. He has been mentored by several respected Idaho basketball leaders, including Colby Blaine, Travis Russell, Cody Pickett, and Brian King.
A fourth-generation Idahoan and graduate of North Star Charter School, where he was a four-year varsity basketball letterman, Coach Coutts earned his degree in Sports Management with a minor in Marketing from Grand Canyon University. He also gained professional experience with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, helping build a strong foundation in leadership, operations, and team culture.
Coach Coutts shared that he is honored to join the Timberline High School community and looks forward to building on the strong tradition of Timberline basketball while supporting student-athletes in reaching their full potential in the classroom, on the court, and in the community.
Community members and families are invited to meet Coach Coutts at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Timberline High School Library, where he will share his vision for the program and plans for spring and summer activities.
